While a photographer is the most important factor in obtaining beautiful wedding portraits, its location is also critical. Montage Resort and Spa in Laguna Beach, if photographed with skill, will contribute to a memorable artistic wedding collection.
From a photographer’s perspective one of the most attractive features of wedding photography at Montage is that, while it is a resort, the beach area in front of where the wedding takes place has no beach patrons on the back ground. This goes for every wedding ceremony I’ve seen shot there. This is a difference from most of the other Laguna Beach wedding resort locations. In other locations it is necessary to instruct your photographer to shoot at an angle that includes the sea but not the beach with people relaxing, or spending money to have someone Photoshop customer out.
Laguna Beach Hotel
One of the favorite locations for group shooting is in front of a large light blue tile wall with fish and other marine animals carved into the wall. The light blue tiles contrast beautifully with the all-white wedding dress. The backdrop also goes well with bridesmaid dresses of every blue as well as most other pastel colors. The backdrop is large enough to be used with a large wedding party; however, your photographer should shoot wide-angle as above the wall are the customers using the resort. These people can be a distraction. Shooting at a wide angle will ensure that the people are not in the picture.
The resort has a section of the beach that looks to hold the sea with small embankments (or retaining walls). Shooting the bride and groom at this location is amazing because they are right in the ocean. One step back will place them right in the water. There are sea and rock formations in the background. Dark brown from the rocks, blue from the sea, white from the bride’s dress and dark from the groom’s outfit create a contrast that will fit well in the designs of a variety of different album layouts.
There is a narrow cement walk to the beach.
The fun album shot is made by having the photographer at the bottom or top of the lane and then having the groom take the bride out on the street. If the photographer is fast enough, he can get the shot from above and below. This shot creates a creative front and back cover on the wedding album.
Laguna Beach has a number of locations where a good wedding photographer can produce a beautiful album; Montage Resort and Spa, if shot properly, is one such location.
